The Chiller :
Archived News
This
is where you can find all of the archived news that had been previously
shown on the Main page. Here you can find the
news, updates and topics of old from The Chiller. The news goes from
most recent, descending to older entries. This archive will build up
over time and is here because it would be inconvenient for the you to
scroll up and down an endless page of news. This would be very frustrating,
and frustration is the feeling we want to avoid
and dont want to promote here, instead it should be relaxed and chilled.
So take a browse through the archives using the page links to different
archives, and keep things chilled...

Images, feedback, summer...........
|
Track | Groove
Armada - Inside My Mind
(Blue Skies)
Just
a small update. I was trailing through my computer and came across two
images that were part of Windows XP Pro and decided they are eligible
for the images section, so they have been added,
as they are cool.
Next thing, feedback.... I have had not one email regarding a forum
for the site and I'm pretty dissapointed. I love this site and would
hope that some of you guys do. I was hoping to interact with some of
the users to find out how to make the site better, so until I get more
visitors and a readerbase that will give me some feedback, then there
wont be a forum, as I dont see the bother just yet for it to fail.
Anyways, please do email me and let me know, it only taknes 2 minutes
of your time, email addresses are on contacts
page.
Also, during the summer, Im hoping to get some good quality photographs
of sunsets etc. During the summer, the site will not be updated as much
as I'd like, because I'm going to have to work my ass off to stay at
Uni.
Chow for now...

Track | ATB
- Underwater World
Update
for today, a bit late as well. I have been feeling a bit upbeat today,
so ATBs Underwater world is my track of the day. Its is pretty ambient
and mellow, but upbeat at the same time. I like it lots.
Speaking of new tracks, I stumbled upon http://www.crookram.net
today and I must say I'm very impressed. I really liked the tracks Crookram
has created and he has given me permission to link his site, which I
will do gladly.
Please go and check it out, its about as chilled as you get, it has
a great colour scheme and layout. You wont be dissapointed. Download
his free sample tracks, sign his guestbook and be glad you clicked
this link to his site.
Onto other news, a friend of mine sent me an photo today that he took
not long ago and had photoshopped. I love the sky and feel it has a
certain chilled effect to it. Its over at the Images
section to download, go check it out. Its an image of Scotland capital,
Edinburgh (where I am studying my degree) The original image he sent
me was massive and I had to chop a nice section from it to make it a
good size for a desktop.
Anyway, the summer is now here and tomorrow is my last day at University,
I have to leave my flat (and its fast internet connection) I have enjoyed
my first year as an undergraduate student and I'm looking forward to
a good summer.
I will update this site over the summer, but the updates will be infrequent,
I hope this doesn't put you off visiting, but I simply won't have the
time to do a lot of updating. When I do, I'll make sure it's a big one!
Until then, peace out...

Track | Jakatta
- It Will Be
I
got a listen to the Jakatta Album on CD called 'Visions.' I was pretty
interested in this group as I like their approach to music, and I'm
impressed with the album, one track that stood out was It
Will Be. This is a great track which is dreamy and chilled, so
it gets the track of the day spot.
I have also fixed links in the music links section and added information
about Gregvickers.com.
Yesterday, I was talking to Litervis, who
hangs around Chilledbeats.org
and he sent me some nice chilled images which
I have uploaded.
We were also discussing whether a message board
or message forum would be a good idea for
The Chiller. I have my doubts as to whether this will be a good idea
or not, as they may get a lot of interest and be a success, then again,
they may not be successful and look stupid. I really want your comments
and feedback on this, as I'd give it a shot if I knew it would improve
the website and increase the amount of visitors.
Remember, it is the users that make a website popular, and It's in your
hands...
I also wouldn't mind if people could suggest some artists and songs
for my new CD I'm going to make for the summer. Please let me know so
I can find the songs and listen to them and see if I like them for my
latest compilation...
Please send me some feedback regarding the forums and compilations...
Many thanks,
Mark

2nd June 2003 | Updates,
Forums, Hits, Indie songs & sunburn...........
|
Track | The
Stone Roses - Shoot You
Down (Soul Hooligan Remix)
I
guess I'll garner some strange looks for having an Indie band on my
trac of the day, the truth is, this is a good remix of a song and it
has a relaxing feel. I like it a lot and so it gets the pride of place
on the Track of the day slot.
To other things, I havent updated for a while and I've been rethinking
parts of the site, I have decided not to put a soft drinks section in
after all. I have updated the lifestyle section and added another item
to help you relax. Check it out and see what
you think, its at the bottom at number 10 and has a little funny anecdote
as well.
I have seriously been considering a message board / forum for the site.
I would like to hear some views or opinions for if this is worth the
bother or not. As I reckon a forum could help users keep in contact
and discuss some things to do with the chill out scene. Please email
me and let me know what you think.
The hits for the site have dropped a big bit in the last few weeks,
and I cant say I blame you guys for it, its mainly due to lack of updates.
I would appreciate suggestions and stuff, full credit will be given.
Now, onto the sunburn issue, I was working at an outdoor pool yesterday
and got really bad sunburn, I was too late on putting the sun lotion
on and the result is: I look like a lobster!
Just thought I'd share that with you all...

Track | Nightmares
On Wax - Nights Interlude
Sorry
for the shameful lack of updates. I have just been handed control of
my University roller hockey team website and have had to do a lot of
work on it to get it up to speed. Therefore I've had no time to update
the site. I have also had to finish two essays this week, and I'm sure
that I have no more at all for the rest of term.
Hopefully on Monday I'll can add some new content. I was thinking of
adding a new area to the drinks section to cover some soft drinks which
I feel are good. The content of the site will slowly increase and I'm
glad it's still attracting interest, keep visitng.
I have also managed to get a hold of some Nighmares On Wax albums and
I've neem listening to them constantly, its good stuff and I reckon
you should have a listen or check out their sound.
Until next time, bye for now...

New song, being tired, nothing much else...........
|
Track | J-Walk
- French Letter
This
is just a small update for you all to read about. This is being written
so late tonight, because I'm not long home and settled in from playing
some roller hockey (which we lost 10-3) We have beaten the team before,
but oh well that doesn't matter. What does matter though, is that I've
been given a great tune from Petros. This tune is by an artist called
J-Walk and the song called French
Letter.
Mostly because I was pissed off at hockey, being tired from work, and
driving most of the day, Petros gave me this tune and I really like
it. Its very smooth and chilled and I think you all should try and find
it. I know I'm asking my friend to get me more tracks by this artist
as I would quite like to hear more of their stuff. Anyways, grab a beer
(like I'm just about to) and go chill out...

Some updates, CDs, and other stuff..........
|
Track | Nightmaers
On Wax - Les Nuits
I
was very pleased at the weekend, as my younger brother came through
with some old pop CDs and the likes of mine that somehow had fallen
into his posession. He handed them to me and what did I find? My first
ever Chill Out compilation that I had ever listened to! This was a CD
given out by Ministry
magazine in about 1999 with Issue 4 of the magazine I think, as the
CD has '004' on the case and CD itself and is called Ibiza
Chillout. This was composed and mixed by an artitst called A
Man Called Adam. I was overjoyed when I got the CD as it was
what introduced me into the ambient chilled scene. What amazes me more
is that Nightmaers
On Wax - Les Nuits
was
on this CD and I never recall hearing it before, although clearly I
had. This is one of my all time favourites and hence why it's my track
of the day. I am absolutely amazed that I cannot recall ever listening
to it before.
Anyway, moving on to other updates, I have added a few more chilled
items in the Lifestyle section, so head on over and see the new things.
I added a hammock as it was on the cover of this old CD that was found.
Enough ramblings for today, I'm off to listen to the CD.....(again)

Some new linky things...........
|
Track | Julien
Bain - Futures
Once
again, the track of the day if Futures
by Julien Bain,
as it's my new favourite.
Yesterday, I recieved an email from one of the first visitors to TheChiller
and he has informed me of his Electronica outfit Grenoble.
Anders aka Litervis has provided me with a lot of feedback and correspondance
in relation to TheChiller, over on the Chilledbeats.org
Forums.
I also recieved an email wishing me to listen to a track by Dan
Warb, which is a chilled remix of Underworlds Born
Slippy, which he craftily renamed Born Sleepy. Dan Warb is into
the chill out scene and is pretty good with his remixes, and is worth
checking out. Born Sleepy is pretty good
and can be heard here.
You can catch the links to these new sites over on the Music Links
page. That's all Ive got time for to add today, I'll see about getting
some updates to the Lifestyle and drinks section pretty soon. Until
next time, have a listen to Born Sleepy and chill out...

New Favourite tune, Links, Pictures and idle ramblings...
|
Track | Julien
Bain - Futures
Thought
I'd add a new update seeing as Ive been busy and neglecting the site
a little. Ive started work placement for my University degree and it
has been fun. I've got another 3 weeks to go roughly and I hope it goes
as well as it is now. Also over the holidays got a few upgrades for
my PC in the form of an AMD Athlon XP 1700 Processor, an extra 256MB
RAM (now at 768MB) and an nVidia GeForce 2 MX 400 graphics chip, as
well as a new 24x CD writer.
Well its official, I have a new favourite chill Out track, which was
composed by Julien Bain. Julien is a fellow Scotsman, and I feel I owe
him the publicity he deserves for making such a good tune. You can keep
up to date with Juliens progress at www.julienbain.co.uk.
I will have the lastest information on any new tracks he makes and I
must say I'm looking forward to his next one. Meanwhile, why don't you
have a listen to Futures
to get you by.
I have updated the necessary parts of The Chillers' winamp
skin as best as I can. So the new download is available and supercedes
the older version.
I have also added to new cool sunset pictures in the Images
section of the site. One is by an unkown person and I stumbled across
it on the internet. Another is by me from during my holidays when i
decided it was a nice night and took a picture. Unfortunately the digital
camera isnt too great. Im hoping sometime when I get money to buy a
new 70mm Lens for my SLR camera, and get good photos and scan them to
make desktop images.
Anyway, that's all for now and I hope you call back, until then, sling
on Futures
and relax...

Winamp Skin fixes, Archives...........
|
Track | Darude
- Touch Me, Feel Me
As
I have just gotten around to updating my winamp, it came as a bit of
a surprise as version 2.9 has two new default windows that need skinned.
I will do this and expect an updated skin on monday. Meanwhile you can
use the present version until the updated skin
is ready for download. I have also began an archived news section, where
all the news of old can be found. This way it stops the website going
on for ages, but splits the news into sets of 10 entries. Making browsing
easier for you. Ill get around to adding some more content in the various
areas, but I have an essay to do, so i best be getting on with it. Until
next time...
