Music : The Chiller

Music is a fundamental element for total Chill Out. Chill Out music has its own genre, but my definition of Chill Out music is that it is made up of ambient house, melodic house, ambient trance, trip hop, soul and many other. It doesnt matter who made it, or how it was made, just as long as it provides the right effect, whicc is, to chill you out.
The music section to the chiller is where you can find information about some of the most chilled, ambient and melodic tunes out there today for listening.
In this section you can see my own compilations, favourite tunes & artists, online radio stations and all the chilled tunes on my winamp playlist. I also have links to other sites which specialise in Chilled ambient music, one of the sites listed was created by a radio DJ who specialises in the genre and has a large listener base.
Sit back, get a nice chilled drink from the drinks section, click the links below and slowly drift into the bliss that is a total chilled state...

2003 Chill Out | 17 Tracks | 1 CD |

The 2003 compilation is my 3rd compilation of chilled tracks to date and has 17 tracks with a playtime of 79min 52seconds.
These designs as you can see, are using graphics used on the main theme and colour scheme of TheChiller. I feel the white writing with yellow outline and shadow effect are visually stimulating on the chilled blue background.
Personally, I think these covers are great and I'm really impressed with the CD cover for the actual CD, i think it looks really good and fairly professional looking. Out of the printer though, the colours are a little brighter than I expected, but are nonetheless pretty decent.
The CD itself was going to be a double CD with a mixed style of chilled tracks. In the end, due to time constraints (it was supposed to be done for June) I decided to make one CD. The music on the CD is mostly electronica or trance music that has been remixed to make chilled ambient tracks.
I really like this compilation and it has no tracks that have been on previous CDs I have made for myself.
The only thing similar to an older compilation is that I have made the tracks go from more upbeat to more downtempo varieties. This ranges from Xpander by Sasha to the mellow Rise Reprise by Nightmares On Wax. The part I like best was selecting Private Road by Bent for the closing track as I feel it has that effect with its sound.

| 2002 Chill Out | 37 Tracks | 2 CDs |

This was my second chill out compilation I decided to create. It has a lot of tracks on it that were in the 2001 Chill Out CD I made. I thought of this CD as a revision rather than a new or continuation of the 2001 CD. I had a lot more Chill Out tunes by this time and decided I wanted some of my old favourites back on disc. My opinion on this compilation is that it is an improvement from the 2001 CD and although I had to make cuts of some good tunes, I'm still pleased with it. Again this CD has some older tunes as well as brand new ones for its time.
I decided to split the CD into two parts, a 'Baleric' CD and a 'Deeper' CD. Following the same lines of the 2001 CD I decided to split the CDs into different styles with the Baleric disc being slightly more upbeat. The Deeper CD is more downbeat and ambient. I decided to brighten up the covers for this compilation which used more lively greens and blues and purples. It can be argued that its a little too bright, but i liked it, especially the lens flare. | 2001 Chill Out | 19 Tracks | 1 CD |

This was the first Chill Out compilation I had made. I created it in October 2001 in advance for a house party where I knew we would need some ambient tunes in the early hours. I had been listening to a lot of Chill Out music a while before I actually decided to get my favourite tunes together and create my own CD. This was mostly due to not having a CD burner and lack of songs in my playlist as well as few CDs to rip songs from. In my opinion this is a good CD and I still listen to it to this day, bearing in mind some of the songs come from the 1980's and early 90's. The playlist was created in a certain order that went from more upbeat numbers gradually moving onto the more ambient and relaxed tracks. I created the Front and Back Covers to have a relaxing effect by using subtle greens and blues, which by nature, subdue you. I also added a lava lamp image into the cover to add to the 'Chilled' effect of the colours. Take a look at the covers below, they also have the playlists on them. | Legal Note | Please note these compilations are not for sale (as that would breach the copyrights of the artists) but for my own personal use. There are many ways in which you can get a hold of these tracks, but I'm not prepared to state the ins and outs. The best I can offer is you find the music and make a copy of the compilation you want...
