Music : The Chiller

Music is a fundamental element for total Chill Out. Chill Out music has its own genre, but my definition of Chill Out music is that it is made up of ambient house, melodic house, ambient trance, trip hop, soul and many other. It doesnt matter who made it, or how it was made, just as long as it provides the right effect, which is, to chill you out.
The music section to the chiller is where you can find information about some of the most chilled, ambient and melodic tunes out there today for listening.
In this section you can see my own compilations, favourite tunes & artists, online radio stations and all the chilled tunes on my winamp playlist. I also have links to other sites which specialise in Chilled ambient music, one of the sites listed was created by a radio DJ who specialises in the genre and has a large listener base.
Sit back, get a nice chilled drink from the drinks section, click the links below and slowly drift into the bliss that is a total chilled state...

This website is a radio station and also appears in the Online Radio section. This site has a good community with forums and "Established in 2003 as a follow-up to the wildly successful Flaresound project with over 1,000,000 audited listeners served. Netmusique channels are some of the longest running, most popular, and well respected of the nets favorite downtempo and house stations." That line taken from the site more or less sums up what its all about. The live on-site chat window is one of my favourite features and direct correspondance with the site admins is guaranteed, Hali and Jeff are sound guys and very helpful. The site has a bit of a crazy layout and the frames are a little hard to get used to, but overall its a good site and worth a look.

Chilledbeats.org has a vast database and covers a lot of information to do with the chilled music scene. This is a great website and is definately worth checking out. The forum section is really good and has a wise comunity. I suggest you have a good look at this website as it is really cool and well set out. The design is really good and you can even change the sites appearance. Very cool indeed and you must check it out.

This is a sitecreated by the multi-talented chill out artist Greg Vickers. This website has a lot of information about many aspects of the chilled culture. Mainly a personal website/portfolio of his creations, the site is really smart.......and well.....pretty flash! The music in the background is great and on a whole. You can download samples and even full musical pieces Greg has created, trust me, they are good and I suggest you download them. They are in mp3 format and can be streamed as well, check them out. I love this site lots. The loading times for the flash will vary, depending on your internet connection. Worth a visit, definitely.

I highly recommend you check this site out, and sign the guestbook to let him know how you feel about his site, also mentioning you saw the link from The Chiller would be a good thing. Listen to his tracks, and give him feedback. A favourite of mine has to be 'The Consumer Slaves' and 'Stars' to name a few. You really should go and check this site out for yourself, although pretty low in content, the tunes this guy creates make up for it. go and see it now!

This site has been recommended to me but I havent really checked it out thoroughly, but from what Ive seen and heard, Gayle runs this site with a passion and conviction. I like that attitude. Im always up for expanding the links to chilled music websites and Illl have a look at this site in the near future and post some more details. Worth checking out.

This is a great contemporary site that is packed full of information for its simple easy to naviagate design. The site even has some tracks for you to download (I recommend Born Sleepy) and information on mixes and things that Dan has done. You must check this site out as its really cool and you can even hire this guy to make a site for you, which I would assure you, would be good quality. He also sells mixes of his stuff and well basically, get your mouse clicked on the above link...........now!

This is a great Site and i rank it highly as it has an extensive array of information to do with many, many artists, tracks etc. It is easy to navigate and has a variety of other features and information such as Online Radio Links to Mikes' own radio show, reviews and music labels. Well worth checking out.

You must visit this site in order to see the what its really about. The site hosts a lot of archived files from mp3 streams and has some good mixes. This site is recommended and should be visited by all the ambient music / deep house lovers out there.

This show however is not a live online web stream. This is based in Sydney Australia and has minimal DJ interruption and each show lasts 90minutes. 90 minutes of pure chilled and ambient music. Sounds good, so go and have a listen.

This site is about his Electronica band which have a very unique but experimental take on music. In my opinion, the music is not like the chill out I prefer, but very abstract and only die hard followers of whatever genre it is, will like it. One track called Prisoner 819 is closest to chilled music Ive heard from his works yet. This site has big plans, just like his band, and I suggest you check it out to see what you make of his unique experimental style of music...

Tis site is still in development and hosts the two finished tracks he has created. D not be put of by only two finished tracks, I feel that this guy makes a great electronica sound and you should stay tuned for more work he produces. It is good news to hear this guy has got more material in the works and should be releasing them soon.......I hope.

Although still in development in some areas this site has some information about the group NoW. I was wanting to find out more about this group, and now i have. I thought they would be an ambient group, but according to the site they are very heavily based on Soul music. Worth a look as its very cool.

Very informative and very extensive it is a good site for the Grove Armada fans. Go and take a good look around.

Another great flash website that was designed by mocaarts.com. This is one sweet site, whihc relates to chilled music and has been developed by genuine people who have a god interest is the more relaxed beats. This site contains live shows for streaming or download and they have a feature show on Netmusique.com. This site is really nice and is worth checking out due to its nice layout and good information. They even have their own store and have plenty of features for you to browse through.

Featuring a diverse range of styles and artists, Citrona are dedicated to putting out decent music. In their own words "to release good music which continues to move in a "forward" direction." This site has a lot of menus, is easy to use and easy to navigate and find the signed artists. My only hope is that they look over the way of Julien Bain, Crookram and Afternoons In Stereo, to see if they are good enough to get signed, which I think they are. Anyways, hae a wee look and see for yourself........now!
